A $1,000 reward was issued Wednesday for information leading to the arrest of the man who broke into Chelsea's Pancho Villa Restaurant last week.

Chelsea police released a wanted poster featuring a picture of the masked suspect, who reportedly smashed out the lower half of a double-pane glass door with a crowbar to gain entry at 2:19 a.m. July 1.

The Mexican restaurant is located within the Chelsea Clocktower Commons in the 300 block of North Main Street. Police didn't initially release the name of the business.

The suspect was wearing a heavy, hooded Carhart coat, knit hat, glasses, gloves and a bandana over his face, according to the poster.

He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, credit card transactions and gift cards.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Michigan by dialing 1-800-SpeakUp. Calls can be made anonymously.

I just received the video from this incident and will hopefully be posting it shortly. As for the sex of the suspect, police initially said it was a male. After watching the video, that would be my hunch, too.

Since the guy's own mother might not recognize him from this photograph, now's the time to turn in those pesky neighbors you've been feuding with since they moved in. With any luck, you'll get $1,000 and they won't live near you for the next three to five years.

I really think that these security cameras need to be better quality to be useful. I've seen a lot of images on this site from various security cameras for many articles about crime, and they are mostly poor quality and therefore not all that helpful for anyone trying to solve a crime. This includes banks' images on security cameras. Just observing that an investment in better quality security cameras might pay off in the long run by solving more robberies.

Looking for someone in Chelsea who owns that Carhartt sweatshirt will be like looking for someone with Birkenstock's or hemp pants in Ann Arbor. Good Luck!

Good thing Chelsea is the size of my backyard; should make the search a bit easier.
