Police searching for man who broke into Chelsea restaurant

Police are searching for a masked man who used a crowbar to pry his way into a Chelsea restaurant Monday morning and steal money from the tills and safe, police said.
The male suspect entered the building in the 300 block of North Main Street around 2:19 a.m., said Chelsea police Chief Edward Toth.
The restaurant is located in the Chelsea Clocktower Commons where there is an outer set of doors.
"Usually, those doors are locked," Toth said.
They was no sign of forced entry on the outer doors, which leads police to believe they were not locked Sunday night.
The suspect then used a crowbar to pry open the locked, interior door to the restaurant, Toth said.
Once inside, the suspect targeted two tills and a safe, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. The man also trashed the manager's office.
The man appears to be wearing a Carhartt coat, a stocking cap, glasses and a bandana around the face in an effort to disguise himself.
Anyone with information regarding the burglary should contact the Chelsea Police Department at (734) 475-9122. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

Looks like hazmat worker, someone ready for a ski trip or doing a Michelin man commercial,no one would be able to identify from that video, unless he borrowed their jacket!

I would assume they did not do so. This man seems to have known the outer door unlocked and that money was in the tills. Inside job.

Looks like Pancho Villa, also known as Las Fuentes. Much of the building is unoccupied except for small offices and the restaurant. It seems that it would be the type of situation that would have allowed him time to rip them off. Very sad.

John, Can you tell me why annarbor.com does not offer a "click to enlarge" on any of the images that are included in articles like these? Most web sites like yours offer this feature and I feel it would be very beneficial if yours did as well.

Actually Kyle, that is the clearest surveillance photo I've seen in an article. It looks way better than those from banks, etc.

@ann_arbor_guy--If you have a Windows operating system on your computer, you can hold down the "Ctrl" key and move the mouse wheel upward to enlarge. I'm not sure if that will work on Apples.

Hi AAG- Thank for the feedback. An improved photo system is something we're working on. Although this photo wouldn't have benefited much by it as it is already substantially pixelated.
