AnnArbor.com's Summer Concert Series to host October Babies
The band, which plays a sound described as upbeat global soul, will perform a lunchtime concert at noon this Friday, Aug. 19, on the patio at AnnArbor.com's community space, 301 E. Liberty St. (at Fifth Avenue).
October Babies perform original songs in Japanese and English. Their music weaves together elements of funk, jazz, R&B, reggae, techno, Latin, drum & bass, pop and more.
Toko Shiiki-Santos and Erik Santos are the core of the band and its primary songwriters. The two first met in Tokyo in 2002, when Santos was working Japan. When Toko moved to the U.S. in 2005 to study photography in Ann Arbor, they began recording together. The band has released two albums, "Ao-zora Radio" and "High Hai Hi!"
