Kovacs, whose hit on Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder in the Michigan football team's opening-week 34-10 victory forced a fumble that led to a touchdown, was named the Lott Impact Player of the Week today.

Kovacs led Michigan in tackles and finished with two sacks and a pass breakup. His forced fumble came on a blitz and a hard hit of Carder in the third quarter. Senior weak-side linebacker Brandon Herron picked up the fumble and ran 29 yards for his second touchdown of the game.

Kovacs, a former walk-on, was second in the Big Ten last season with 116 tackles.

This guy is the model of all hard working college football players who just go out and do it without the fanfare or hoopla. He doesn't care what the talking heads say about him or what the less than knowledgeble fan think of him. He plays all out all the time. Instead of counting on that he wont be able to move as fast as some 4 star prima donna, the other team should be worried when JK is going to enter their football world with a bone jarring hit. If you don't believe me call Mr. Carder, QB at WMU, for a second opinion. TiM Go Blue!
