Former Michigan quarterback Jim Harbaugh turned around the football program at Stanford. Now, in his first season with the San Francisco 49ers, he may be on his way to improving the fortunes of another program.
ESPN.com calls it "the Harbaugh effect," in a feature on the first-year NFL coach. The 49ers are 4-1 and coming off a 48-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Harbaugh effect starts with meticulous preparation and attention to detail, according to ESPN.com.
"Everyone is just very, very detailed in what they are doing," left tackle Joe Staley said. "It's the receiver knowing they're not going to get the ball, but running that route 400 percent speed so he can clear out the safety. It's about getting different adjustment calls at the line of scrimmage without having to say more than one word, and everyone knowing what their responsibilities are."

Harbs is a flat out winner....and competitive as heck. Getting 4-1 out of that current roster in SF says a ton about how he has focused that team.
