Pleas for no expansion from Big 12 schools, the saga of Demar Dorsey continues and Mike Jackson departs
Sensing obvious concern, some schools in the Big 12 are doing what they feel they need to in order to save themselves.
The latest move has been made by Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little, who is pleading with Nebraska and Missouri to stay put in the league instead of bolting to possible invitations from the Big Ten.
If the schools do leave, it could set off a chain of events that leaves Kansas - one of the pre-eminent programs in college basketball - without a home.
Jennifer Floyd Engel, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, calls Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe "a joke."
The one move that looked almost certain to happen - Boise State to the Mountain West - also is on hold as leagues wait to see what is going to shake out from the power conferences.
Knocking down another rumor - for now - Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said his school hasn't had any discussions with the Big Ten. Pete Thamel, who wrote the story for the New York Times, also tweeted later that he's heard the opposite.
That goes along with a report from Rivals.com's Chip Brown - who has been on top of expansion since the beginning - says "Notre Dame may be on the clock."
No matter what, with the Nebraska/Missouri Big 12 deadline looming Friday, something could happen by the end of the week. Or, as has already been learned with expansion, not.
