Michigan wrestler Kellen Russell named state's College Athlete of the Year
Outgoing and incoming members of the Michigan wrestling program were honored as the state's best athletes Monday night.
Fifth-year senior Kellen Russell, a two-time NCAA champion, was named the 2012 Michigan College Athlete of the Year by the Detroit Athletic Club.

Taylor Massa
A four-time Big Ten champion, Russell posted a 33-1 record this season and went 134-12 in his collegiate career.
Incoming freshman wrestler Taylor Massa from St. Johns was the male recipient of the High School Athlete of the Year.He is a four-time state champion and finished his prep career with a 231-0 record.
The female winners were Wayne State swimmer Catherine Leix and Rochester Hills Stoney Creek golfer Gabby Yurik.
