We all know the block M in the Big House stands for Michigan, but it might as well stand for Magnified, writes ESPN.com Big Ten blogger Adam Rittenberg.

Adds Rittenberg, "Given what happened last season -- Michigan dropped seven of its final eight games to miss a bowl -- the fear is déjà vu for the Maize and Blue. Rodriguez would have a hard time surviving a third consecutive season without a postseason appearance."

For most of the media outside of A2 dot com, the block M apparently stands for 4-15 in the Big Ten, 2 consecutive losing seasons, 0-3 vs. MSU, NCAA violations etc. That is how they see it, as they should. No spin, you are what your record says you are.

Now I know Joe Paterno is getting ready to retire. In his hay day he would never allowed such foolishness.

We'll see. I predict a fast start, then we fade. We don't have much in conditioning, and we always look tired in the 4th.

IMO Michigan must win the next 3 to show the progress necessary. A bowl win would be nice too. I think PSU and Purdue are winnable games and Illni the wild card game. It's a good thing the Illni game is at home. Win the next 3 and you've got a shot at 9-4.
