Some nicknames are frivolously handed out.

Not the case for Huron High School goalie Luke Dwyer.

When the Huron student section chanted "Cool-hand-Luke, Cool-hand-Luke, Cool-hand-Luke," in the final minutes of the second period, after Dwyer continually - and coolly - swiped away a bevy of Pioneer shots, the nickname was all too fitting.

Dwyer allowed one goal on 26 Pioneer shots to help the River Rats claim a 2-1 victory over the cross-town rival Pioneers in the opening round of a Division 1 pre-regional hockey playoff Monday at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

"I didn't want it to be my last game. It's my senior year, I didn't want to lose," admitted Dwyer. "And it's a little bit more special when you're playing Pioneer, so we were going that much harder." (Rest of the Story & Photo Gallery | Boxscore)
