Saline's Adam Bruly and Lincoln's Eddie Nuttall are both heading to the Division 1 individual state wrestling tournament after qualifying at Saturday's D1 individual regional at Saline High School.

"It feels real accomplished, that was one of my main goals this season," Nutall said.

Nutall won his first match of the day, a 2-0 decision over Brighton's Aaron Calderon, after taking the lead in the first period and then hanging on for the victory. He lost his second match to top-seeded Brian Gibbs of Temperance Bedford.

Needing a win in his third match against Curtiss Brownell of Grand Ledge to qualify for the state tournament, Nutall once again got an early 2-0 lead and extended it to 3-0, before Brownell cut it to 3-2 at the end of the second round.

But Nuttall hung on through a tense third period to win, 3-2.

"In his first two matches, Eddie wrestled really well, he did all the things we talked about," said Lincoln coach Mike Betts. "In the first match he started solid, but then he set back a little and didn't keep the pressure on.

"But Eddie is someone who doesn't give up. I'm real excited for him."
