Ex-Michigan hockey captain Luke Glendening returning to Yost with AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins
Former Michigan hockey captain Luke Glendening will begin his first full professional season in familiar territory.

Former Michigan captain Luke Glendening will suit up for the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins at Yost Ice Arena on Sunday, Oct. 7.

Glendening played three games with the Providence Bruins on an Amateur Tryout contract over the summer and signed a one-year deal with the Griffins shortly thereafter. He is the the first Greater Grand Rapids area native to ever sign with the Griffins.
Glendening tallied 70 points in 165 career games with the Wolverines including ten goals and 11 assists as a senior along with a plus-18 rating. He finished his college career plus-57 and last year was named the CCHA’s Best Defensive Forward.
Grand Rapids -- the Detroit Red Wings’ AHL affiliate -- opened camp on Monday and plays Lake Erie on Saturday in at the Huntington Ice Center in Toledo and Sunday in Ann Arbor. The Griffins are coached by former Western Michigan coach Jeff Blashill.
Sunday’s AHL game will cap off a trio of events on Sunday at Yost. The Wolverines will have their annual blue and white intra-squad scrimmage at 5 p.m. followed by a “Skate with the Wolverines,” which is a public skate/meet the team event from 5:45-6:15 p.m. The Griffins game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
