A 24-hour rain delay: Tigers-Yankees resume Game 1 tonight
Associated Press
So, do they play the national anthem again?
The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees resume Game 1 of their American League Division Series beginning at 8:37 p.m. tonight. The anticipated matchup of Tigers' ace Justin Verlander going against the Yankees' CC Sabathia lasted just one-plus inning.
The game will resume in the bottom of the second inning and the score tied 1-1. Doug Fister will pitch for Detroit and Ivan Nova will take the mound for New York.
"Obviously, it’s disappointing," Verlander said. "It’s not the ideal situation, but I think with this team, it lines up well for us. We’ve got four guys that are ready to go. So, hopefully, tomorrow we come in and Doug (Fister) finishes the no-hitter."
