Tippin will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at Eastern Michigan University’s Pease Auditorium in Ypsilanti.
Tippin has one platinum album, five certified gold albums, and three number-one hits.
Tippin’s hits include “You’ve Got to Stand For Something,” ''My Blue Angel,'' and ''That's As Close As I'll Get to Loving You.''
Between 1990 and 1997, Tippin had six top-10 hits and two number one songs.
Tippin also appeared on the soundtracks of such films as 'The Beverly Hillbillies' (1993) and 'Fire Down Below' (1997). Tippin is a successful songwriter, with artists such as Garth Brooks, Charley Pride, Kenny Chesney and others having recorded his tunes.
Although this is the first concert of its nature for the area, it is part of a larger popular national concert series for veterans made possible through nonprofit organizations and donations of funds, time and materials from local communities.
No admission will be charged to attend the concert, but tickets are required and general-admission ticket distribution for veterans will begin Jan. 7.
Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis with four priorities of ticket distribution: Gold Star Family Members, which are those who have lost a family member in service; veterans; families of veterans; and the general public. Tickets are limited to two per individual.
Veterans can visit the Voluntary Service Department located in the basement of the Liberty Building at the VA Ann Arbor Medical Center at 2215 Fuller Rd. to obtain tickets, or through the ticket reservation line by calling (734) 222-7994. Tickets will be available to the public beginning Jan. 22.

I am not a country music fan and, frankly, never heard of Aaron Tippen. I now know one thing about him. He is a man of generosity who cares about my fellow veterans. I may never hear a word of his music, but I will always respect him and be grateful for what he is doing.
