University of Michigan selling historic peonies from Nichols Arboretum this weekend

Now you can take a piece of the gardens home with you.
This weekend the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens is selling some of their historic peonies.
The cost? $10 for a bare-root plant or $20 for three.
The plants are on sale from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the gardens, located at 1800 N. Dixboro Rd. in Ann Arbor.
Varieties for sale include:
- Madame Jules Dessert
- Eileen Kelway
- Shawnee Chief
- Mademoiselle Jeanne Riviere
- Miss Salway
- Paradise
- Opal
- Tourangelle
- Triomphe d’Exposition de Lille

Unfortunately, they were completely sold out when we got there at 1:30pm. :-(

My first reaction on seeing this headline was "WHY are local small events always announced when it is far too late to change my schedule and go?" Now I'm glad I didn't waste the gas for a 30-mile drive - I would have arrived about the same time you did. @Kellie Woodhouse -- can you find out the name of the peony variety in the photo? It is stunning.
