Blizzard slams the East Coast, but Ann Arbor area won't see snow for days, forecasters say
The East Coast is bracing for a major storm system today, but local meteorologists say the Ann Arbor area isn't expected to see any additional snowfall for more than a week.
The National Weather Service said Saturday that lake effect snow could result in accumulations of 1-2 inches today. But meteorologist Amos Dodson said this afternoon that only flurries are now expected, with no accumulation.
The storm moving up the East Coast — which threatened to bring blizzards and a foot of snow to New York City and New England — won't impact the Midwest, Dodson said. That storm is moving northeast, he said.
The local forecast doesn't show any snow predicted in the next seven days, Dodson said. Precipitation may come Friday — but it could be warm enough for rain instead of snow, Dodson said.
Monday's temperatures are expected to reach 29 degrees in Ann Arbor.

@clownfish, How much to make me a "plow safe" mailbox? Would be happy to give some hard earned cash ( not the A2.com Cash) to a liberal A2 poster. Seriously, let's get er done. Guess we should wait until the spring thaw though eh? We could then use our "cooperation and teamwork" as an example to get the folks on the Potomac to get together. I call it Disneyland on the Potomac.

I would rather see snow or rain than sleet/freezing rain.

I love snow! It covers up all of the yucky mud, dead lawns and crap that accumulates during the cold months. It makes the world pretty! It gives jobs to people that need it in the winter, lawn care and construction folks. It insulates the ground, which is good for many plants and animals. It requires us to slow down a little, to pay attention to what is going on around us and enjoy the beauty life brings. Bring it on! @Stun- I would be happy to make you a plow-safe mailbox, and grant you one less thing to whine about in regards to the government that has a seeming personal vendetta against you! I built one for my neighbors years ago, works and looks great! abjure-36256@mypacks.net-email me

"But Ann Arbor area won't see snow for days". Good, I hate snow and I hate cold weather. I also hate it when the county snow plow knocks my mailbox, second time now in 4 years. Call the county and tell them I saw their truck knock down my mailbox and they say, "we'll have someone contact you back and make a visit in about a week". I say, what then am I to do with getting my mail delivered and the response was basically, "pound salt". Yes, I hate snow for a number of reasons.

We are quite lucky to have such variable weather here on earth. Most planets and moons have remarkably unchanging weather patterns. The variability here is mainly water and water vapor driven...
