By Amalie Nash

Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies are searching for an Ypsilanti Township man accused of shooting a 16-year-old boy Saturday evening.

Police said today that Robert Edward Rathmann, 21, is being sought in connection with the 7 p.m. shooting inside his home in the 800 block of North Harris Street.

Sheriff's Cmdr. Dieter Heren said Rathmann and the victim know each other and got into an altercation. The teenager was shot in the mid-section, Heren said.

"We're still trying to piece together the stories of what happened," Heren said.

Several other people were inside the home at the time. The victim was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Heren said.

Rathmann is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 165 pounds, and has brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a black nylon jacket, and may be traveling on foot, police said.

Police said Rathmann should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts if asked to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department at 734-971-3954.

I can't believe you said that David66. I believe it is all officer's priority to find those that have committed serious crimes. (and they need the piblic's help.) There are probably a few out on the streets that know just where he is, but won't speak up, for some lame reason or another. We need to help our police in Washtenaw Co.(instead of cutting them down) There are so few for the amount of people and crime issues. We must watch for all suspicious actions in our neighbor hoods. I personally respect all Public Safety Officers, and I don't think they get paid enough to put their lives on the line every day. May God Bless them!

Yes! Police, I know that finding violent criminals is not your priority, but doing the bidding of anonymous people on a web site is. So drop whatever else you were going to do today and find this person instead. Thanks!
