Eastern Michigan University has new location for its police station, crime mapping for students and residents
The Eastern Michigan University Department of Public Safety has a new home on campus.
The campus police station is now located at 1200 Oakwood St., in the former Hoyt Conference Center. Prior to August, DPS locations were split between the parking structure near the library and Bowen Field House.
Following a $3.9 million renovation, the police department, parking department and emergency management office moved in at 1200 Oakwood Street on EMU's campus. Dispatchers have a state-of-the art facilities in the building as well.
Health and safety, also run under the DPS umbrella, is housed in the Snow Health Center.
The new police station includes areas for prison processing and holding, officer locker rooms, an armory, evidence area and briefing room.

Using Google mapping, the Web site shows points where crimes occur on EMU's campus and throughout Ypsilanti.
