By Steve Pepple

Ypsilanti firefighters were called out Saturday morning after a car struck and knocked down a light pole at the corner of East Michigan Avenue and South Prospect Street, east of downtown.

The driver of the car was not seriously injured in the 4:30 a.m. mishap, fire Capt. Michelle Stanbury said. Firefighters taped off the area and stood by until DTE crews arrived to take care of the exposed wiring, she said.

Ypsilanti police said no arrests were made.

You have to admit you take your life into your own hands at that intersection. Turning is a nightmare and boy is there a lot of traffic at certain times of the day. They need a turn signal more then anything. Glad the driver was unharmed.

It's 4:30 in the morning, how much traffic can there be? I would have taken her to jail for leaving the scene and lying.
