The event will last from 10 a.m. to dusk and the actual lighting of the tree will take place at 5:30 p.m. There also will be caroling at this time.
The tree lighting takes place as part of the all-day Winter Festival sponsored by the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce.
According to the Patch report, there will be several activities throughout the day held at local businesses such as a coloring contest at Aubree's Pizzeria & Grill, stories at Dexter Pub and a Santa available for visits from noon to 3 p.m. in the park's gazebo.

Let the pagan celebrations begin! Shiny trees, solstice, Saturnalia season, St Nick, all pagan rituals that have nothing to do with the birth of The Christ. Add in Black Friday and we have a War on Christmas. Sure is pretty though. I will be sure to get into town and enjoy a libation while viewing the celebration of the the sun approaching its most southerly declination.

Dexter still celebrates Christmas? Is this one of the reasons people move there from Ann Arbor?
