Two charged with burglarizing three homes in Ann Arbor
A man and woman accused of burglarizing three homes in Ann Arbor on Tuesday are being held at the Washtenaw County Jail on $50,000 bonds.
Edgar Fitzgerald Hall, 46, and Diane Marie Muthee, 32, both of Lansing, were arraigned Wednesday at the jail on three counts each of first-degree home invasion and conspiracy.
The two are accused of burglarizing homes in the 900 block of Sylvan Avenue, 900 block of Greenwood Avenue and 800 block of Packard Street while people were inside, Ann Arbor police Det. Sgt. Brian Jatczak said.
In each case, entry was made through an unlocked window, Jatczak said.
Televisions, laptop computers, video game systems and other items were taken, he said. The value of the stolen property is estimated at $3,000 to $4,000.
The two, who police say are acquaintances, were arrested Tuesday morning as officers were investigating the burglary on Packard and spotted them in the area.
At the arraignment, Magistrate Camille Horne set the $50,000 cash or surety bonds, court records show.
Hall is on parole after being convicted in Eaton County of third-degree fleeing and eluding, state Department of Corrections records show.
The two are scheduled to return to court for preliminary hearings July 13.

Lee, This guy should have been picked up last Wednesday. Total AAPD inaction was the only reason that did not happen. If you want a story, feel free to contact me.

Note that more or fewer cops won't change these crime statistics if people don't lock their homes.

Geez, five comments on someone's appearance??? Eventually, we should expect a lot more of this petty crime. Most unemployed people will stay home and avoid spending money while looking for work, but with 9% unemployment lasting as long as it has, some people are going to try theft. I bet right now Ann Arbor still has a reputation of being a place criminals go to get caught. How many police can we lay-off before we lose that reputation? Too bad we seem determined to find out. Anyone want to bet the next City Administrator gets a big pay raise, though?

Invading someone's house is petty crime? Seriously? And I don't care if you break a window, kick in a front door, or climb through an unlocked window.
