Pittsfield Township police investigate break-in at Golfside Lake Apartments
Pittsfield Township police say someone smashed a rear patio door to an apartment Wednesday night, but it's unclear whether anything was taken.
Residents in a building in Golfside Lake Apartments in the 2400 block of Twin Lakes Drive called police at 11 p.m. after hearing glass breaking.
Officers and a tracking dog responded to the apartment building, but were unable to locate the person or people responsible for the break-in, reports said.
Detective Lt. Sean McCormick said a rear patio door to an apartment was smashed, but the residents weren't home, so it's unclear whether entry was gained or anything was taken. Police are trying to make contact with the residents, he said.

@beard...look at your first comment, you never once mentioned Golfside between Clark and Washtenaw. This is why I said that every township or city does have their troubled spots. That area does have a lot of bad things going on. This would be one of those troubled spots. Hopefully things will get better in that area. I think other people would agree. You made it seem like the whole township was troubled. You should of mentioned that in your first comment. I think people would of had different comments in reply to yours. But to pretty much bash PTPD is crazy! PTPD does protect and serve and they do exist. They have done alot of good things!

why do I care so much??? What a question. I feel like I am an unheard voice. Obviously several people disagree. I am not alone in the fact that many people feel that the Golfside/Clark intersection is quickly becoming the most criminal active intersection in Washtenaw County. Sure, I could move away and that would help me, but that was not my point. My point was that Golfside between Clark and Washtenaw needs more of a police presence. Crime over there has ballooned to a ridiculous rate. I live over here, and I have not seen any extra patrolling. Maybe in your bloated subdivisions life is all rainbows and gumballs, but many of you need to open your eyes to the rest of your township. Sure there are problems in every city or township, but that is when the good ones step up and do something about it.

@beard...Every city or township has their troubled spots. You must live on Golfside between Clark and Washtenaw. If you do not, then why do you care so much, if you do and you do not feel safe then move somewhere else in the township. If I did not feel safe, then I would get out!

All of you Pittsfield supporters should go spend some time on Golfside in between Clark and Washtenaw. Leave your car there unattended all night. Live in those apartments for a couple months and then tell me your thoughts. I have lived in Pittsfield for 2 years now, and I see a completely different police force than you do.

Sorry to tell you, the police do not protect you and your personal stuff. Police catch people that hurt you and steal or destroy your personal property. It is up to you, not the guberment, to protect yourself and your property.

@beard - Surely you must be confusing Pittsfield with Ypsi Twp. YT is where a majority of crimes are reported from. Pittsfield's police seems to be very high quality. Just look at how they caught the recent repeat burglar. Great work.

@beard...crime is everywhere, not just Pittsfield Township. So is PTPD suppose to guard every patio door and house in the township 24/7??? Here lately, I have read several articles about PTPD and all the arrest and crimes they have solved. Their response is fast and they are one of the best police departments around in this area. I am out in Pittsfield Township all hours of the day and see numerous officers on the road. GOOD JOB PTPD FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!!!

For the past year, has Pittsfield PD really existed? Because it sure seems like a free-for-all right now. This is ridiculous. There is an article about a break-in, assault, or even murder in Pittsfield every day. It's about time the residents felt safe. The police force is not protecting or serving.
