Kevin Miskell was arraigned on one charge each of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon Saturday, Detective Lt. Robert Pfannes said Monday.

Miskell is charged with stabbing a 29-year-old Ann Arbor man with an unknown object at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of Wisteria Drive.

Pfannes said it’s still unknown what caused the confrontation.

“The victim and assailant do not appear to have known each other before the assault,” Pfannes said, “and police do not believe any illegal activity or previous rancor existed between the two.”

Pfannes said Miskell was arrested near the scene of the stabbing Thursday and is lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail on a 10 percent of $100,000 bond. He will be in court for a preliminary exam at 8:30 a.m. March 14, Pfannes said.

According to police, the two men began fighting outside their apartment building. The fight moved inside one of the buildings before ending up outside again. It wasn’t until after the fight the 29-year-old man realized he’d been stabbed.

The man suffered injuries to his abdomen and leg. Pfannes said he’s been released from the University of Michigan Hospital, where he was taken for treatment.

Mugshot looks like he's picking a fight with the cameraman.

I love the mug shot. It almost looks as if the photo caught him in the middle of making a smart remark.

I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding but knives are dangerous weapons and can lead to things like this happening. If we could just ban them I think everyone would be the safer for it.

Personally, I think we should only ban assault knives.

Glad to know the 29-year-old didn't need intestinal surgery from the stabbing, like Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) did after getting shot in the intestines back in 1981.

UpperDecker, We must be linked on some psychological level, because I too, think about Popes whenever I hear about someone being stabbed. Should we start a club?

Agreed Ann, every time I hear about a stabbing I also think about a stabbing from 1981 that required intestinal surgery. :|

When that happened to a young man I know all the perp got was probation and restitution to the man for the truck he also destroyed. This was in Wayne county, and as far as I know he still hasn't gotten paid over $50 of the $7000 restitution the perp was ordered to pay.

I'm not sure I follow the part where there was "intent to do great bodily harm less than murder." What does one expect happens when you stab another person? It's the reason almost every time one person shoots another, it's assumed that an intent to kill was present.

There are a couple places in the thigh area that if you aimed for would quickly lead to exsanguination and death so I disagree

Umm, you do understand the difference between shooting and stabbing? If somebody did something, I might consider stabbing him in the thigh. It would not be intent to murder since most people will not die from being stabbed in the thigh, but it could cause great bodily harm

What a strange story! More to follow I suppose. Almost all of the "explanations" I was thinking up went out the window! Weird!
