Crash snarls traffic on US-23 on east side of Ann Arbor

By Cindy Heflin

A crash was tying up traffic on southbound US-23 south of Geddes Road on the east side of Ann Arbor Friday evening.

The crash was blocking one lane of the freeway, a dispatcher said at 6:10 p.m. It was believed to involve several vehicles, he said. It was not clear whether injuries were involved.

A sergeant at the Ypsilanti post of the Michigan State Police said she had no information on the crash and no one was available to provide any.

A Google traffic map of the area indicated a lengthy backup in both directions.

Too many roads, too little train/trolley tracks! It will only get worse until we address the need of bolstering our public transportation infrastructure! This does NOT include adding more of these massive, over sized "BIO" Diesel belching AATA buses. AHHH!

I drive this stretch daily around 4-4:30PM....what a friggin nightmare! Stop, go, slow down, stop, go, stop, constant backups for no apparent reason between Geddes to Washtenaw.

This town sucks for traffic. I understand that it's better than Detroit, but for it's size, AA sucks. Come on, make Geddes two lanes! Make 23 three lanes. Make 94 three lanes! Give major traffic routes stop light priority. AHHHHH!!!!!

Large backup in both directions? Most likely, the northbound motorists slowed down to gawk.
