Chelsea High School Top Scholars

Chelsea High School held its 2012 graduation ceremonies Sunday, June 3, 2 p.m. in the gymnasium. The class had 224 graduates.





ChelseaBertoni, Daniel2.jpg
Daniel James Bertoni
Parents: Robert and Susan Bertoni
Activities and Awards: Daniel was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a National Merit Commended Scholar and received the SEC All-Academic Award. Daniel was a member of the Chelsea House Orchestra and belonged to the Chess and Physics Club. He was a Link Crew Leader that mentors incoming freshmen. Daniel received the Excellence Award in Honors Physics and Outstanding Performance in AP US History.
Plans After Graduation: Daniel will be attending the University of Michigan, majoring in engineering.

Megan Marie Brockett
Parents: John and Leslee Brockett
Activities and Awards: Megan was a member of the National Honor Society. She was the recipient of the Northern Kentucky University Achiever’s Scholarship. Megan served as co-editor of the yearbook. She also played on the varsity volleyball squad and was the feature twirler with the CHS Marching Band.
Plans After Graduation: Megan will be attending Northern Kentucky University, majoring in business administration.

Jennifer Nicole Craig
Parents: Joel and Amy Craig
Activities and Awards: Jennifer was a member of the National Honor Society, the Chelsea House Orchestra and the CHS Pride of Chelsea Marching Band. She received the Tower Scholar Award; several Top Dawg Awards; and was an Academic Letter recipient all three years.
Plans After Graduation: Jennifer will be attending the University of Toledo, majoring in physical therapy.

Alexander Desai
Parents: Ravindranath and Bonnie Desai
Activities and Awards: Alexander was a member and president of the National Honor Society. He received the University of Michigan Regents Merit Scholarship and was an SEC All-Academic Scholar. In addition, he received an academic letter all three years. Alexander was a member of the CHS Pride of Chelsea Marching Band and received the Spirit of the Pride band award. Alexander is also very involved in the Chelsea Free Methodist youth group.
Plans After Graduation: Alexander will be attending the University of Michigan, majoring in engineering.

Tessa Elizabeth Elwart
Parents: Tom and Diane Elwart
Activities and Awards: Tessa was a member of the National Honor Society. She played varsity volleyball and was on the color guard team. She was a member of the Physics Club.
Plans After Graduation: Tessa will be attending either the University of Michigan or Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, majoring in engineering.

Nathanael Clarence England
Parents: Brian and Diane England
Activities and Awards: Nathanael was a member of the National Honor Society. He played on the varsity boys’ tennis team and was on the Science Olympiad team Nathanael was very involved with his church youth group. He received several underclassmen awards including Outstanding Junior in Science; Outstanding Performance in Physics in his junior year; and the Certificate of Achievement in Kindergarten Computers.
Plans After Graduation: Nathanael will be attending the University of Michigan, majoring in engineering.

Eric Cuyler Gordon
Parents: Ronald and Laura Gordon
Activities and Awards: Eric was a member of the National Honor Society and received his academic letter all three years. He was a member of the Pride of Chelsea Marching Band as well as the Jazz Band; and was slected to play at the Youth Arts Festival at State Solo and Ensemble competition.
Plans After Graduation: Eric will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in aerospace engineering.

McKenna Hamilton Jerant
Parents: Steve and Callie Jerant
Activities and Awards: McKenna was a member of the National Honor Society. She was yearbook co-editor and was a Link Crew Leader. McKenna received Central Michigan University’s Distinguished Student and Academic Honors scholarships, as well as the Honors Program International Study Award. She was selected for Girls’ State her junior year.
Plans After Graduation: McKenna will be attending Central Michigan University, majoring in elementary education.

Kevin Michael LaForest
Parents: Tom and Judy LaForest
Activities and Awards: Kevin was a member of the National Honor Society. He was on the boys’ varsity tennis team and was in the Physics Club. Kevin received the University of Michigan Regents Merit Scholarship; was an AP Scholar; and received the SEC All-Academic Award.
Plans After Graduation: Kevin will be attending the University of Michigan, majoring in biomedical engineering.

Zoe Miranda Sing
Parents: David and Cherilynn Sing
Activities and Awards: Zoe was a member of the National Honor Society. She was on the track and field team as well as the CHS Pride of Chelsea Marching Band. Zoe was co-editor in chief of the school newspaper the Bleu Print and a member of the One-Act theater group.
Plans After Graduation: Zoe will be attending Northwestern University, majoring in cognitive science.

Mason Wagner
Parents: Robin Wagner and Julie Swager
Activities and Awards: Mason was a member of the National Honor Society and served as secretary in his senior year. He was selected as an SEC All-Academic Scholar; was a University of Michigan Regents Merit Scholarship recipient; attended the National Young Leaders Conference his junior year; and was a volunteer for six years at the Robert J. Delonis Homeless Shelter in Ann Arbor. Mason was also a new student mentor for three years. He played varsity golf all four years, was captain for two years and was selected for the First Team All-State in his junior year.
Plans After Graduation: Mason will be attending the University of Michigan, majoring in business.
