$4M contract to resurface several Ann Arbor streets approved
The Ann Arbor City Council voted 11-0 Monday night to approve a $4 million contract with Barrett Paving Materials Inc. for the resurfacing of several city streets.
It was the second of two resurfacing contracts for the city's summer street resurfacing program. The first contract was approved earlier this month.
This year's resurfacing program includes more than double the number of streets typically included in the city's annual resurfacing program.
Due to the expected workload, the city has divided the project into two contracts. Barrett Paving was the low bidder on both contracts.
The contract approved Monday night calls for resurfacing one major street (Seventh Street) and 20 local streets located throughout the city (see list below).
Construction is scheduled to begin April 30 and last through October. For all the streets, local access will be maintained throughout the construction.
To allow for construction on Seventh Street, thru traffic will be reduced to one-way southbound. Northbound traffic will be detoured via Pauline, Main Street, and Madison.

I'm shocked that any road repair is being planned with the movement of funds to the art bucket. The AA voters never did get an answer if this is legal or not. I guess our leaders are hoping we forget about this matter.

This is more good news. The city's victory in winning federal funding for the stadium bridges is paying off! Now they can spend the local money on the local streets. Bob, I totally agree about the area you are talking about, its rough! But it must be hard to address, the bridge and approaches are MDOT's then south of the bridge is Pittsfield Townships and north is Ann Arbors. They all need to work together.

I hope they are going to repaint the lines on the streets that are not being resurfaced.
