Twenty-nine students from Ann Arbor high schools have recently completed the 40th home of The Ann Arbor Student Home Building Industry Program, according to a statement from the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor (BRAG).  The students constructed the home during the 2009-2010 school year, pouring the foundation in September and preparing it for occupancy by the end of the school term.

This year’s home is at 2387 Earl Shaffer Drive, just off Dhu Varren Road at Birchwood in the Sumerset Neighborhood. An open house will be held between 1-4 p.m. Sunday, and the home is for sale.

According to the release:

"The Ann Arbor Student Building Industry Program started in 1970 as a partnership between the Ann Arbor Public Schools and local business professionals, providing students with an educational experience while constructing a 3 bedroom home during their junior or senior year of high school.  Students participate in all aspects of construction while learning important skills such as teamwork, leadership, and pride in a job well done.
