"The Voice" host Carson Daly announced early in Tuesday night's episode that while all the songs sung Monday night by the show's remaining 6 contestants scored on the iTunes chart, one song went as high as iTunes' top 10 - and that appears to be former Ann Arborite Michelle Chamuel's knockout version of Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble," which earned a sustained, exuberant ovation from "The Voice"'s live audience on Monday.

So it came as no surprise that Chamuel was the first name announced on the "saved" list, as determined by viewer votes.

Before Chamuel's name was called, the former My Dear Disco/Ella Riot front woman performed Madonna's "Open Your Heart" with Team Shakira's lone survivor, Sasha Allen, and Chamuel's coach Usher talked about why the crowd responded so exuberantly to his protege's second performance on Monday evening.

"I think what they got a chance to see is what they all believe in," said Usher. " … We’re proud, we’re happy, we’re humbled by this experience. This is our first time in the saddle, and we’re going to put our best foot forward and continue to be the greatest we can be, man."

Allen, who also had terrific performances on Monday, had her name announced second, followed by Danielle Bradbury (Team Blake), Amber Carrington (Team Adam), and the Swon Brothers (Team Blake), leaving Team Blake's Holly Tucker shut out of the competition.

Chamuel will be back on "The Voice" next Monday night, aiming to earn a spot in the singing competition's final 4.

You have to laugh at these "snobs" who are so much better than those that watch the reality tv or other entertainment on tv that they don't personally enjoy. It's not high-brow enough for them, I gather, so they feel that must critique the format of reality tv (or whatever it is they complain about on that day) AND those that enjoy it. Rather than just skipping the article if they have no interest in it, they have to read it and comment negatively on it. How sad.

I wish this short-term Ann Arbor resident the best, but will be elated when "reality" TV is no longer considered news.

This is the my first season and the "only" reality show I have ever have watched and I have to say I am really have to say it is enjoyable! All the singers in the final 6 have been great. Sorry to see Holly go.

WHO CARES? You have this as a lead "news" story? Pathetic. Anyone who has ever stepped foot in Ann Arbor and gone on to moderate, fleeting, commercial stardom needs repeated coverage? Please.

This may not be a story that you, personally, find newsworthy, but I can tell you, based on how many folks are keeping tabs on Ms. Chamuel's progress via AnnArbor.com, that a large contingency is excited to see her each week on "The Voice." There's a wide variety of content on this news site, so those who wish to avoid "fluff" pieces can do so with considerable ease.

Well, Ross, some people do care about this stuff, but me? You couldn't have expressed my sentiments any better than you already did. What I find more pathetic is that here we are in a large city, not at all Podunk, USA, with a major university and lots of supposed intellectuals (or, at least, smart people, because they tell us they are all the time) here. There's apparently not a market for a real newspaper, and if we did and it contained drivel like what we find in this article (and the old AA News often did), I can see why there's no printed paper. And what we do get? Lots of fluff articles for which readers like you and me have to post comments to correct errors of fact, grammar, spelling, and all that jazz.

UPDATE: Iggy pop made reference to "a college town in Michigan with a major university" on MTV News the other day.

Keep it a'goin' young lady. In my way of thinking all of them are winners and absolutely marvelous singers.
