What is “The Emery???”

By Trisha Paul

Just like for any newspaper, a typical day in "The Emery" is full of chaos. Each staff member is working in one way or another to reach a common goal: to get our newspaper printed. Some students are editing frantically while others are running out to get pictures that will bring words to life. Some are working to coordinate their page layouts with writers and staring at computer screens, trying to layout a page that is unique but still unified with the rest of the paper. Others are just trying to put the paper together and make sure that our deadline is met. The paper is not done until it is in the hands of our readers, and there is nothing more rewarding than walking down the halls and seeing the cover of "The Emery" staring back at you.

“The Emery” is an entirely student-run newspaper that has been around since Huron High School was started. We publish on a monthly basis and distribute our newspaper throughout the school.

Our newspaper covers news from under the arch to around the globe. We discuss politics, entertainment, sports, lifestyle, opinions, and much more. Since all the content in “The Emery” is written by students, a student perspective is exactly what is unique about our paper.

In the past, many people outside of Huron have neither known about “The Emery” nor been able to access it. As the editors-in-chief of “The Emery” and commentators for AnnArbor.com, that is exactly what Alisa Lee and I want to change. Directly from AnnArbor.com, anyone will be able to access an online version of “The Emery”, and open the door to a high school perspective on real world affairs and get a peek at what really goes on at Huron.
