Crossword puzzle contest solution and winners: 'When guests are in town...'
AnnArbor.com offered readers a chance to test their crossword-solving skills, and Tracy Bennett and Wayne Florida were up to the challenge. They are the winners of our first-ever crossword puzzle contest.
Bennett, of Ann Arbor, was one of eight people who competed in the timed portion of the contest, and won with a time of 17 minutes and only one wrong answer. A copy editor for Mathematical Reviews in Ann Arbor, she received a $100 gift certificate from Nicola’s Books.
For those who didn’t want to race against a clock, we also allowed people to fill out the puzzle at their leisure and submit it to us by last Sunday. We had nearly 150 people enter that way, and randomly drew a winner. That turned out to be Florida, a retired high school English teacher who lives in Ann Arbor. He won a $200 gift basket from Nicola’s Books.
The crossword puzzle was created by David Horowitz and had an Ann Arbor theme. The solution to the puzzle can be found in today’s paper on page C7, or download it here: WhenGuestsAreInTownSolution.pdf
