2010 Deals of the Year Winner Underground Printing started as a local custom apparel store but has grown to include retail stores across the country including new stores in Nebraska and North Carolina, and a fourth Ann Arbor-area location, according to a report from Concentrate Magazine.

The chain currently employs 150 people across the U.S. including 100 in Ann Arbor. The stores focus on brick and mortar retail stores is bucking the trend of increasing focus on internet sales and new technologies.

There are two Underground Printing stores in downtown Ann Arbor, one to the south on Ann Arbor-Saline Road, and one to the west of town in Scio Township. Most of the other retail locations are across the upper Midwest, but the Nebraska and North Carolina expansions show a growing footprint for the company.

I wish they had Steve & Barry pricing, but they still have a lot of quality merchandise. My wife and I bought "Say Yes To Michigan" tees and we love them!

Seems like an odd thing to have multiple storefronts of in the same city. If they're each run by a franchisee then at least the company is still making a bottom line, but if they're all corporate owned it seems like you'd be stepping all over yourself.
