The church staff has hired Southgate native Kyle Wentzel to serve as its new pastor of student ministries and Ypsilanti Township resident Jeremy DeVee to serve as its new children’s ministries director, marking the first time in Saline First Assembly of God’s 57-year history that the church has had a paid children’s minister.

Mike Johnson, the church’s previous student ministries pastor, will become pastor of technology, outreach and special events.

Wentzel comes to the church after completing a six-month ministry internship at New Hope Assembly of God in Taylor, through Lakeland, Fla.-based Southeastern University. Wentzel will be responsible for leading the church’s programs aimed at ministering to teenagers and college students.

DeVee, a full-time teacher and April 2006 graduate of Eastern Michigan University, will serve in his new role as children’s ministry director on a part-time basis. He will lead the church’s weekly programs for newborns, toddlers, preschool children and school-age children.
