Huntington Bank branch to open in every Meijer store in Michigan
Ohio-based Huntington Bank plans to double its presence in Michigan after striking a deal with Meijer Inc., the companies announced Wednesday.
A Huntington Bank branch will open in each of Meijer’s 100 stores across the state, potentially terminating the leases for some banks currently located in the stores, MLive reports.

Huntington Bank branches are expected to open in the Meijer stores on Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor-Saline Road and Jackson Road.

It also means Huntington will expand into new markets, including Lansing, Flint, Jackson, Battle Creek, Gaylord, Cadillac and the Ann Arbor area.
As part of the agreement, the bank branches will be open seven days a week with extended hours. Bank officials said they will complete roughly 20 installations in 2012.

I asked at Chase and they said they are not leaving, it is only the Meijer stores that don't have a bank in them.

grocery store bank branches are rarely profitable for the bank as a whole; i am surprised to hear the Chase Bank relationship will possibly end -- they were so gung-ho about expanding via supermarket branches.

It would be nice to know if that means Chase will be closing at the Ann Arbor-Saline location. It would be odd to have two banks in the same store, but I'd miss that Chase!

Me too! I have known Mike, one of the managers, since he was at the Chase at Kroger on S. Maple!
