The Glenn H. Friedt, Sr. Medal of Honor was established in 1988 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Friedt’s graduation from Cleary University and also in recognition of the Friedt Family’s association and support of Cleary University.

Johnson began his career in the automotive industry in 1984 as a parts driver/porter for Jim Bradley Pontiac Buick GMC. Working his way up through the ranks, Johnson graduated from the National Automobile Dealers Association in 2001 and became owner of Saturn of Ann Arbor in 2004. In July 2010, he acquired Jim Bradley Buick GMC, moved the facility, and renamed it Mack Buick GMC. He recently added MINI of Ann Arbor to his portfolio.

An Ann Arbor resident, Johnson was named the 2007 GM Dealer Rookie of the Year and earned an introduction into the Million Dollar Club from GM Minority Dealer Development in August 2008. He currently serves on the GM Minority Dealer Advisory Council and has been a member of the General Motors Minority Dealers Association since 2002 when he became a dealer candidate member. He is also a member of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers.

Mack received the award during a private event at President Sullivan's home on Friday, Dec. 17.
