The bulletin board at Cafe Ambrosia overlaps onto the adjacent wall.

Local cafes, if they are any good, have a wall full of event and concert posters. One of my favorite downtown cafe posting walls is at Cafe Ambrosia on Maynard Street, if only because they still have a postcard pinned up (photo) that I wrote to them years ago.

Here's a list of posters up on the main posting wall at the cafe today.

Music

Greensky Bluegrass is playing the Blind Pig on March 4. The 18+ show is $15. Our concert preview of this record release show includes their tune "Reverend".

Branch Out Collective and Raymond Spears present a show at the Elks Lodge, 220 Sunset Road, on Sunday March 7. Sounds by DJ cataclysmic, with Ant the Champ, Stereo Boyz, Duke Nukem, Tru Klassick, and Mobil & Intricate Dialect. Doors at 9 p.m., $5, 21+.

The Music Hall of Detroit and COMPAS present Inti-Illimani, Music from the Andes and Chile, at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 at 350 Madison Ave, Detroit. Tickets $18-23-28. COMPAS is a program of the Southwest Detroit Business Association and is funded in part by the Skillman Foundation.

Movies

The Benard L. Maas Foundation Family Friendly Film Series presents An American Tail at the Michigan Theater, Sunday March 7 at 1:30 p.m. Kids 12 years of age and under will be admitted free. Admission price is $9 for parents and other adults, $7 for students, seniors and veterans and $6.50 for Michigan Theater members.

Worship

Canterbury House hosts a free "Alternative Ways to Pray" class at 721 E. Huron St. It's held after an evening prayer service and free dinner each Wednesday, now through March 31. Everyone is welcome, contact Allie at willsam@umich.edu or Megan at mlyte@umich.edu for details.

Art

Metamphorae is the School of Art and Design MFA thesis exhibition from sculptor Reem Gibriel. The opening reception is March 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Jean Paul Slusser Gallery, 2000 Bonisteel Blvd. on the University of Michigan's North Campus. The show runs until March 26.

The Gallery Project presents Mind, a multimedia show which runs at its gallery at 215 S. Fourth Ave. through March 28. It "represent depictions and interpretations of what we commonly call mind. It brings together artists who speak of mind, whether recalling and interpreting, depicting and conveying, questioning and questing, or dreaming and fantasizing."

Commerce

I won't do the advertising justice. There's a two-bedroom apartment for $675 per month, an event for singles at a different cafe, and ads for T Mobile sim cards.
