Ypsilanti native Ryan Griffin wins SWAC Player of the Week honors at Jackson State
Ypsilanti native and former Ypsilanti High School player Ryan Griffin took home Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for a standout performance in Jackson State’s win over Alabama A&M Saturday.

Griffin, a sophomore linebacker, recorded 10 tackles, including four solo, 1.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble return for a touchdown. It marked the second straight game Griffin has scored a defensive touchdown.
For the season, Griffin has 35 tackles, one sack and one interception.
Jackson State sits at 6-2 in league play, second place in the SWAC East. It takes on Alcorn State on the road Saturday.
