USC works on erasing Reggie Bush era and more links on NCAA investigations
How much ink is in an asterisk? The Southern California athletic department will need plenty of them, the Los Angeles Times reports, when it compiles its football team media guide in the wake of the NCAA penalties in the Reggie Bush scandal.
From the Times:
The university must qualify every winning score, every statistic and every mention of former tailback Reggie Bush that pertain to the two-year period covered by recent NCAA sanctions. All those asterisks will be followed by some form of the phrase "later vacated due to NCAA penalty."

At least the leadership at USC has finally decided to take action and clean house. It was obvious after Garrett's idiotic talk to the USC boosters around the time of the sanction announcement that he and a number of others had to go. The only reason he probably kept his job for an astounding 17 years was a) he had a Heismann Trophy, and b) the football team was winning big. But, the atmosphere of smug arrogance and non-compliance started with Garrett and led deep into the coaching staff. Lane Kifflin will definitely be on a short chain. And if I were USC, I'd put some surveillance cameras in his office and bug his phone to keep an eye on him!

All of these investigations at the SEC schools and USC's recent sanctions show how minuscule Michigan's violations were. I think this will bode well for us next month when the NCAA decides if our self-imposed punishment was good enough.
