STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — An auction bid could net a football fan a chance to see through the smoky, thick-rimmed glasses of Penn State coach Joe Paterno.

A pair of the Hall of Famer's spectacles will available to the highest bidder as part of an auction by Penn State Public Broadcasting. A spokeswoman says it's the first time that JoePa has donated his glasses for a charitable auction.

The 83-year-old Paterno is major college football's winningest coach with 394 victories. He is well-known for his sideline wardrobe of khakis and black sneakers as well his Coke bottle-thick glasses. The glasses were autographed by Paterno with a Sharpie. The bidding begins online Monday and ends at a charity dinner on Feb. 20.
