Thank You DB for your actions and your perspective of what Wolverine Football is all about. Getting a coach will be easy, just the complete opposite of RR will do. Respect, dignity, honor, teamwork and toughness: the things the U taught us as students and players will rule again. Finally I can retire this post.

Portage: The title of this article is: "What other media are saying about the University of Michigan's firing of Rich Rodriguez" and it was followed by a list of links. I simply added a few more articles from more national media outlets that A2 dot com didn't list in this article. It's not every day that UM is in the NY Times or the Wall Street Journal, two highly regarded national media. this has nothing to do with any opinion about the firing of RR. My post has to do with A2 dot com overlooking prominent articles in their list.

portagelk, I said "according to all the adoring fans". I was never a huge fan of his but he and Canham sure had 'em fooled!! He was pretty successful in the Big 2 and little 8!! In answer to your last post, that is why Brandon needs that stability and not just the rising star! Another thing Brandon should insist upon is at least 1-2 assistants with strong head coach potential just in case!

Sally, I live in Ca. and you don't want to hear what folks radios, news, etc. are saying about all this and there is a fair share of folks that don't agree with the firing. It will all pass, we'll get a new coach and someday we'll be better the important thing here is, can the Mich. faithful be patient? I can, I've said all along you've got to give a coach 5 years 4at least and we could be looking at even longer depending on circumstances like how many kids are going to walk and how many recruits this year and next are going to question the instability of coaching at Mich. RR is gone and that's what the bashers wanted so here we all are January 5,2011 Happy New Year everyone. Go Blue!

You forgot to list two national media outlets and their stories in the last couple days: NYTimes: "Michigan Fires Rodriguez as Coach" "The Mess At Michigan Will Be Hard To Clean Up" Wall Street Journal: "Will Rich Rodriguez Stay or Go? At Michigan, Rumors Pass for Facts"

I thought that it was just that guys where young that michigans D wasnt good?! So is it because they are young or not good? Or is it because they dont run a defensive system that is coherent? So Michigan wont win a game next year because they bring in a coach that doesnt run the spread read option right. Last I checked the D is still almost last in NCAA football so please explain portage how it will take 3-5 years to get back on track? Did you think the D was getting better under RR? How did the offense do against defenses in the top 25? Do you realize that same offense will be going against more top 25 defenses next year. Mich. would have been lucky to win 2 conference games next year with the offense and D that they had under RR. So what happens when guys learn how to tackle, cover better, reduce bubbles between the first and second level, and learn how to create gap control? What other team runs the 335 successfully on non long distance passing downs? (TCU 4-2-5). Once again people think that Brandon is a baffoon. Something that I have learned in my young but fairly experienced life is that people who are successful and run things that are successful dont get there by accident! People that are in the final process of being the NFL commissioner are not Baffoons. Just because you do not like the way he went forward in the press conference doesnt make him a baffoon. Just because you didnt get Don Shula as the coach yesterday the moment we found out that RR was having a meeting and was fired doesnt make Brandon a baffoon, It makes you impatient and sound really foolish.

You're wondering what the world thinks about DB firing RR? Here's the answer: Why does it take two days of discussions (and a decision "I made last night.") to fire a guy? It looks like UM was doing the "WVU thing" again. Steal a prominent coach from coach from another school and coordinate it with the firing. The problem is DB doesn't have the coach already in the wings. Therefore, he was forced to "consider" another year of RR. However, why would anyone (even RR) want to stay knowing that you're going to be fired NEXT year? You have no idea how dumb UM looks to the rest of the world. As for me and my house, we're happy with Tressel. We didn't go for a premier name. We went for a decent, knowledgable guy devoted to a longterm program. No, we haven't won every game. But there there are very few schools that don't envy tOSU's accomplishments.

Canham hired a former Woody Hayes player and asst from Miami, OH. Worked out fairly well according to all the adoring fans. OSU hired the vest from Youngstown St. Not working out too bad. Brandon, We just need an ol' Ball Coach that would love to have his dream job and that would be well within your "salary range". How many of these multi million dollar babies last more than 4-6 years as they chase the golden ring? Of course, your real job will be to rally this fractured bunch of alumni and fans to your new coach!

3-5 years to get back on track, what do you boys and girls think? I wish Bo would never have sensationalized that, "A Michigan Man". This thing with Hoke is a crap shoot a risk and if we get Hoke I think we're stuck with him for awhile if he doesn't do well. I look at those massive crowds and that massive treasure chest their sitting on and I say, only bring in a new coach when we can get the cream of the crop. It's not like we can't afford a decent coach. We're going to need a proven coach if we're going to catch up with the rest of the power houses around the country let alone Ohio state or even Wisconsin and Mich. State. Listen, if everyone wants Mich. to catch up with the other national powers and the Buckeyes are in that elite group why would we get Hoke unless we're still trying to save money.

It Wont matter what Coach you hire OSU will still beat the wolverines U of M is will still have a mediocre team under much pressure to win from the fans the understand it takes time to make a winning team the fact is that u of m will lose to O S U next yrs as well will be another loss to the new coach.
