Western's Dann O'Neill, a former Michigan football recruit, looks forward to his return

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Dann O'Neill signed a letter of intent to play football at Michigan on Feb. 6, 2008.

He never played a down for the Wolverines, instead transferring after redshirting his freshman year to play at Western Michigan.

Now the 6-foot-8, 300-pound junior right tackle will start for the Broncos on Saturday when Western Michigan opens the season at Michigan (3:30 p.m., ABC).

"It's going to be so much fun," O'Neill told the Kalamazoo Gazette. "I can't wait to hear the boos."

O'Neill said he stays in touch with some of his ex-Michigan teammates by Facebook.

“I’m kind of excited to go back there and see all the guys I used to know,” said O’Neill, a four-star recruit at Grand Haven High School who was rated the No. 10 offensive line prospect in the country in 2008.

“Most of those guys came in with me, like Mike Martin, pretty much everybody on the offensive line. ... It’s going to be cool.”

So much has happened since Dann left us that I quite frankly forgot all about him. Seems like ancient history. If he's expecting a boisterous reception, I hope for his ego more people actually remember him. That having been said, I wish Dann continued success with the Broncos. Not so much this Saturday, though.

Now watching UNLV vs. Wisconsin. When B1G plays non-conference, go B1G! Go Wisconsin!

Yes, good luck Dann ... play hard. I'm watching Murray State vs. Louisville. I don't really care about either team. But it's college football ... so I'm watching!!!
