Top 2013 Michigan football commit Shane Morris invited to elite ESPN skills camp

By Kyle Meinke

Top 2013 Michigan football commit Shane Morris has seen his stock slip a bit this year ... but he still managed to be invited to yet another elite camp.

The quarterback from Warren DeLaSalle was among 38 players who earned invitations Thursday to ESPN's Champion Gridiron Kings -- a camp for the nation's best skill-position players.

The 64-player event features 7-on-7 scrimmages, skill challenges and performance training. It takes place July 27-29 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., and will be aired on ESPNU.

Morris is a four-star prospect according to Rivals, and the No. 2 quarterback in the country. He's a five-star recruit according to Scout and the No. 3 signal-caller.

He was the only player from Michigan to make the initial Kings list, but there were three known Wolverines targets who join him on the roster: receiver Laquon Treadwell of Crete, Ill., and defensive backs Leon McQuay of Seffner, Fla., and Kendall Fuller of Olney, Maryland.

Fuller attends Good Counsel High School, the alma mater of starting sophomore cornerback Blake Countess.

Dude's a stud football player but he also bears a striking resemblance to Justin Timberlake. Just sayin'...

MSU has "The Situation." Michigan has Patrick Stewart and Russell Crowe.

You're talking about Hollis getting Mike "The Situation" into a Spartan football game last year? I'm sure he did! Cool story, bro!

"Shane Morris has seen his stock slip a bit this year...". Well, it's a good thing Shane doesn't listen to media opinions. This is a great honor and respect for Shane. I also agree with MRunner - Shane has been instrumental in helping land Michigan recruits. Much like Hoke, he can do no wrong. Kyle....am I wrong, or does that most recent picture look like Shane has bulked up a bit ? MgoBlueForTiM.......Shane; bigger, better and smarter.

Thanks Kyle, I didn't mean you on the slip - I read all those (unbelievable) reports from Rivals, Scout, etc. (I know you have to repost their comments). The extra bulk is very noticeable - even in his face (he looked like a boy last time I saw him).....can't wait till he gets him on campus. Keep up the good reporting/writing Kyle. GO BLUE !

Terry, just so it's clear, the slip isn't my opinion, but that of all the primary recruiting services. His ranking has fallen, and that's what I was referring to (and that's what it says in the story that is linked in that passage). ... But great eye. Yes, he's put on weight. Can't remember precisely what it is, but I think in the neighborhood of 210-215. But yes, he's said he's put on weight.

Go Shane! He's play a big role in assisting to help land recruits in the 2013 class. You can bet that he'll be throwing the ball to one Mr Laquon Treadwell quite a bit in these drills. We shall know sooner or later.
