Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer sings Michigan fight song at Columbus concert
The Red Hot Chili Peppers delivered an encore that its Columbus, Ohio, crowd won't soon forget.
Or, likely, forgive.
As drummer Chad Smith was being cheered following a performance at Value City Arena -- Ohio State's basketball facility -- the Detroit native picked up a mic and sung the first few measures to "The Victors," the University of Michigan fight song.
He, of course, was roundly booed by the partisan crowd.
Then he dropped the mic, and walked off stage. Literally.

I wouldn't say classless, I would say brave. This is all in good fun but man to do that in Columbus... that could of went very bad. Luckily for them it was ok. As a buckeye alum I certainly love the chillis' and always will...bring it on!

I'm with riverraisin. I wouldn't even recognize the OSU fight song if someone started singing it.

"If the opposite had happened at Crisler ppl in AA would be ripping this guy...." True, but it didn't, it never will, so we won't. Actually, if someone started singing the first couple of lines to the tosu fight song, no one would even recognize it. It's not America's favorite fight song.

I agree with all the above comments. Wasn't a fan of em that much but this stepped them up a notch. Chad smith u the man. How awesome is that to be singing in colombus at an Ohio facility and to finish off his show by singing the greatest college fight song to a bunch of suckeye fans. Awesome

Never did like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but they seemed to have made my perception of them better. Anytime anyone does this to a bunch of Ohio slappies, it's just bittersweet.
