Poll: Which state of Michigan sports team are you most excited about?

It was quite a weekend for sports in the state of Michigan.
The Detroit Lions are 4-0 after rallying from a 24-point deficit to stun the Cowboys in Dallas and the Detroit Tigers split their first two games of an American League Division Series in New York.
At the college level, all five Football Bowl Subdivision teams in the state won games on Saturday, highlighted by Michigan’s 58-0 win over Minnesota -- its most dominant victory in a decade -- and Michigan State’s (4-1) first win at Ohio State (10-7) since 1998. Even Eastern Michigan (3-2) beat Akron 31-23 to win its first three home games for the first time since 1995.
So, we ask you:

The Wayne State University Football Warriors are 5-0, rated in the Top Ten (in NCAA Division II), and possess the longest winning streak in the country! Go Warriors!

As much as I love the Wolverines, I had to go with the Lions. Maybe its the novelty of having the national press actually PRAISE the Lions instead of making jokes at their expense, but I am enjoying it more. Overall, I prefer college football to the NFL, but if I had to choose between seeing Michigan win another National Championship and the Detroit Lions winning the Super Bowl, I would have to go with the Lions, for what it would do for the state in general. I have seen Michigan win far more football games than I have seen them lose, with the exception of the past 3 years. I am used to the Wolverines enjoying success. I don't think any of us can really say we are used to the Lions enjoying success, so I will take it whenever I can get it. Being a Lions fan this year must be similar to what it was like to be a Spartan fan last year...finally, after years of misery, you actually have something good to talk about.

I equally care about Wolves and Tigers. But as excited as I am in the attitude shift (coaching, HC, OC and DC) in AA, I'm also very unhappy with the attitude and competence of JL and Lamont. I love Mr I and DD and Dave Brandon. I'm glad to see the Lions do well, but it's been too long for me to have stayed interested. So I went with UM. Go Tigers and Go Blue.

At this moment it's the Tigers because they are clawing at the Yankees. But the Lions are beyond belief!! Stafford has that boldness of youth to never get down and to remain confident....the Comeback Cats. UM has not convinced me yet. Watching Wisconsin and Nebraska this weekend, I think Michigan has not been truly tested by a top notch team. Fun to watch? Sure. But championship material? i don't see it yet.

PaulRL, The POLL is about excitement generated by the teams. Our comments to each other ...that is conversation. People do that. The conversation continues...join or not. Either way is fine. We are all enjoying a conversation about the teams...the poll was about excitement.

The question was: "Which state of Michigan sports team are you most excited about?" Not about "But championship material?" Just saying.

I haven't followed baseball since the strike in 1994-95, so the Tigers aren't all that interesting to me. It's nice that they have a chance to beat a team with a salary about 100 times the size of any other team's salary (hyperbole noted). My heart has always been with Michigan football, so even though they haven't yet had that signature win, I'm very interested. The Lions look great, but I'm concerned about how they're getting so far behind in games in the first place. I'm more a fan of the NFL as a whole. EMU seems to have moved up 120th-best team out of 120 in the FBS to around 110th. Congrats, school that technically shouldn't even be in the FBS (the NCAA doesn't enforce its own attendance requirements). And Sparty is Sparty. Never much liked little brother.

So for me I picked the Lions, just because EVERYTHING they have overcome in the past few years. But for the State of Michigan as a whole, we should ALL be proud/happy for our sports teams. the Lions, Tigers, Redwings, U of M, and MSU beating OSU (which if your a State or U of M fan you hate with a passion). This state has SO much to look forward to in all sports this years.

It's gotta be the Lions or the Tigers. UMich still hasn't played a decent team and MSU looked sad on offense.

The question wasn't: Which team do you think will do best?
