Orlando running back Dee Hart commits to Michigan
After indicating earlier in the day that he was leaning toward Alabama, Orlando Dr. Phillips High School running back Dee Hart announced tonight that he has committed to play at Michigan.
The Orlando Sentinel reported Hart announced his decision after rushing for 267 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-0 win over Boone.
Rivals.com rates Hart (5-8, 190) as the best all-purpose back in the nation and the 37th best player in the country.
He narrowed his college choices to Michigan and Alabama by eliminating Auburn and Arkansas last week.

This is a big get for U of M. But I agree with some of the other comments, we need some defensive studs as well.

3 and out & nobowl -- There are 15 defensive prospects in the 2011 Rivals top 250 that list Michigan in their top group. Michigan has a good to great shot at landing eight of them.

It cracks me up how exaggerated people get when something good or bad happens. Stay tuned and you will discover one of the following dominate posts in the coming week: IF MICHIGAN WINS TODAY "Wow! Michigan is 6-0, there is isn't anyone Michigan can't beat!!! All they have to do is beat the Suckeyes and they've got the Big Ten locked up! Denard already has the Heisman won. With Shoelace and Hart we will win the NC next year! blah, blah, blah" IF MICHIGAN LOSES TODAY: Where's the guillotine? RR's head is coming off man! He sucks and so does Robinson the DC! Michigan is only going to win two more games this year AT MOST!! Hart is going to decommit after watching that joke of a performance. blah, blah, blah. And please...enough posts about running backs holding up under the Big Ten schedule. That is such a lame, over-played, ridiculous suggestion. For one, the Big Ten does not even field the biggest players in the FBS...look it up. Also, injuries have very little to due with getting pounded by "big bad" players, it has more to do with a wrong plant, bad angle, landing on players in a wrong position, or the ball, or tripping one way when you weight is going the other way, getting hit a second time and twisted up and landing in a way that pulls a muscle or breaks a bone. Not to mention, some players are just more injury prone than others. AND NO ONE KNOWS who those players are until they start playing. So enough of your stupid posts. Go play videos games boys.

defense: 2009 class 10 recruits. defense: 2010 class 15 recruits. defense: 2011 class 11 recruits so far, 6 of them are defensive players. the numbers on the defensive side of the ball have been down that is why we are playing up to 6 freshman. that is not normal and the problem won't be solved until these players mature and learn the system. the trolls and the casual fans don't have a clue...

That is great news Dee Hart is a great athlete, and now that he has chosen Michigan, we know he makes great decisions, his future is bright indeed.

KeepingItReal, It is real: Come on. #37 overall. Alabama wanted him. I seem to recall they had a good year last year and are doing fair so far this year. They also have a decent back with a good history of press and prestige that had to make Alabama pretty appealing. He is perfect for this offense if you noticed how it works. A big slow back does not find the holes quickly and break free. The holes are all based on timing, and big backs that miss the timing get clobbered. Now, I do hope to see more wins this year and M starting to compete recruiting defensive players against OSU and MSU. Good luck today Blue!

I will feel better when I read this exact article on signing day...but watched his highlights and his vision on the field is ridiculous. Seems like a good kid and heck of a football player.

Awesome! Hart is the #1 all-purpose back in the country and will complement Denard tremendously well. Plus he'll most likely be enrolling in January to get a jump on learning the offense. Now if he can convince more impact Florida players to come with him - like some talented linebackers and d-linemen! Go Blue!

A 5'8'' 190 back in the big 10is not going to last. Just look at the injury list of the M's current roster of backs. Whatever happened to the 6'1''-6'2'' 215-220 back?

Tater, UM recruiting is probably scaring IU more than MSU or OSU. Did you see the recruiting rankings? UM is like #25 in the team rankings behind IU, MSU, PSU, OSU. Another 5-6, 165lb running back isn't going to help you too much. Maybe he'll have a big mouth like the other midget Hart that passed through here.

Ok so we got him to take the bait, and now hes on the line, but hes not in the boat yet. the phone calls and offers will continue to roll in, and if michigan has another year like last year he surely will spit the hook. recruits dont just want to play, they want to win.

Tater, Why is everything so apocalyptic to you? Everything great that happens for Michigan is always the end of the world for everyone else. I just don't get you sometimes. I appreciate your zeal for Michigan, but sometimes you don't make any sense.

Awesome, lets pick up Thomas Rawls and our offense is strait. Let's work on big time defensive players now. Defense wins championships. The better the D, the more Denard has the rock in his hands.

I said I'd eat my shorts if he committed to Alabama. Well, I had insider knowledge that he was a silent commit to Michigan. And...voila! Dee Hart is Blue! Dee, you just make an excellent decision! Denard and Dee in the backfield in 2011. Unstoppable. Now, about that defense. Dee, why don't you convince Haha to come to Michigan too?! He would be an automatic starter at safety.
