Michigan QB commit Shane Morris impersonates Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio

By Kyle Meinke

Incoming Michigan football freshman Ondre Pipkins already has showcased his Brady Hoke impression -- and it's a classic.

Now, it appears 2013 quarterback commit Shane Morris has some acting chops of his own. Only, they're not of Hoke, but of in-state rival Mark Dantonio.

Morris was included in an ESPN video this weekend that featured several recruits talking about the easiest coaches to impersonate. But rather than choose a Michigan coach, the Warren DeLaSalle star chose Michigan State's head man.

The routine, as it happens, was pretty spot on. Take a look (Morris enters the video at about 37 seconds):

I am hoping to God that this kid can run the ball at least 8 times a game out of the spread read option and utilize it more as a read option to quickly throw the ball.

I'm curious, who will lead the club once Denard Robinson is gone? Let's see, there is Devin Gardner, Russel Bellomy, and perhaps Shane Morris (February 2nd isn't quite here yet). Who would you select out of that prestigious group of QB's? My guess is there will be a strong competition for playing minutes. This will NOT be an easy selection process for the coaches to figure out.

Actually, if he wanted to do an accurate impression, he should have said that while holding the Paul Bunyan trophy......for 4 years.

You can't really blame the kid for saying it. ESPN tends to bait them to saying stuff like this. I'd wager that by the time he is playing he has improved his media persona. While it is funny it's not really what people think of when they say a "Michigan Man". Wonder if Dantonio see's it as funny to? I also hope UM doesn't lose a game due to a bad snap! Ironically, MSU's real MVP for the bowl last year was the extra point holder "Sontag". They had so many bad snaps in that game and needed every point.

Hey Goofus.....you wish, but don't hold your breath. The only time you'll see him on the sideline is when our Defense is on the field after another beautiful drive led by Shane for a TD, it will happen often against Sparty in particular, get used to it.

what's a matter. . . did the big bad QB SHANE MORRIS make dantonio cry? if you look forward to seeing some guy on the sidelines doing his best acting holding a clipboard for most of his college career, you are going to miss seeing a lot of great MICHIGAN football!! if that's what it takes to float your boat. . . good for you!! Another point about this is; Shane has shown a lot of positive energy to his sport and in talking to recruits. He has shown leadership abilities in keeping it real. I believe Coach Hoke will be an excellent mentor to him - and I also believe Shane will be the next true spiritual/spokesperson leader for Michigan football. And Oh yes, shane has proven himself on the field with his playmaking. MgoBlueForTiM....Shane will prove to be a leader.....

CBSSPORTS.COM. . . MICHIGAN recruits shine at THE OPENING on day two in beaverton, or. MORRIS, team 134 rolling at THE OPENING. . . SHANE MORRIS, who was the top passer during pool play and one of the guys with a continuos smile as he walked around. . . great article! don't let howard the duck here about this, because i don't think any sparty's were there? we don't need another CURSE about SM! GO BLUE!!!!!!

People are actually mad at Shane Morris for this? Do you think that he (along with everyone else in this video) drove up to Bristol, CN to tell ESPN, "Hey, we have some funny impersonations for you guys?" No. ESPN follows these guys around, and I'm sure they were the ones who came up with the story, and these kids were just playing along with it. If anything, this is an indictment on how lame ESPN (the TMZ of sports) has become. And for what it's worth...the Dantonio impersonation was kinda funny

A2James

Should have said "Bristol, CT" (maybe I should go back to high school, lol)

Sun, Jul 8, 2012 : 6:18 p.m.

What a colossal waste of time this is lol... It's bad enough we spend the energy on the games, the game previews, reviews, hype, stats, etc. etc. etc.... But then we throw in the side-shows like this?! Ah, yes, entertaining, yawn.... Kittens on youtube, next up...

Terry Star21

Sun, Jul 8, 2012 : 5:49 p.m.

I don't always like these little stunts, but Shane was professional. At least he wasn't arrogant, obnoxious, disrespectful, and supported thugs and twisting other players heads off (after whistles) - the true dantonio personality ! MgoBlueForTiM.....keeping it respectful, always.

Wally the Wolverine

Sun, Jul 8, 2012 : 5:39 p.m.

It sounds like Shane was sharing parts of a personal conversation. Yeah, thinking a long snapper is "an important position" is pretty hilarious - the msu coach must be some kind of dumb hick. After all, we have never had problems with our placekicking game. This probably wasn't the best way for Shane to try to impersonate the mannerisms of dantonio.

goldenblue, How many d-lineman were chasing him at the camp? Kid acts like a punk. Somehow his scholarship is worth more than a long snapper's?

Looks like he is doing it at "The Opening". A camp loaded with the best players in the nation.Your probably a lil salty that lil bro has the best 2 years in its history and your still irrelevant.

I don't know...he's a high school kid with a lot of talent and ESPN is there filming him. Not really his fault. I don't think he said anything mean towards Dantonio... In Fact, if Dantonio wanted to take this opportunity to not look like a petulant coach for one, he could use the opportunity to say he though Shane did a good job on the impersonation and he wishes him the best.

Article 3000 on this kid. He's still a high school junior. His ego must be as big as the hat he's wearing. Where are this kids parents? Seemed he was never in school. Always at some media event or silly corporate throwing competition. What happens to most celebrity kids in America? Trouble is on it's way. I hope Hoke can teach him some humility and decency. In the mean time we have Denard and Russel Bellomy. Two class acts.

Oops. I forgot Alabama this year. ...FOURTH most important opponent.

Billy Bob Schwartz

Sun, Jul 8, 2012 : 3:05 p.m.

Seems to me like he is a high school kid having a good time. It's not drugs. It's not violence. It's having a bit of fun before his senior year in high school. If he can't make fun of his future school's third most important opponent, who can he make fun of. Did anyone here ever imitate a teacher or a coach before? Nope. I'm sure not. My only question is why didn't he do red sweater guy from ohio? Or UMeyer? Guess Dantonio was easier and he just wanted to enjoy his life a bit. Way to go, kid. I thought it was funny.

You are aware it is the summer so kids are not in school, right. This is typically the time for them to go to as many football camps as possible so it doesn't effect their class work. Also he is a senior now.

I just think it's so cute that all of little brother's fans just stomp their feet like they're not getting enough attention whenver there is a story about Big Brother. If Shane had decided to become a Spartan, little brother fans would be defending him to the end. GO BLUE!
