Michigan football cornerback Terrence Talbott leaves the program
Michigan confirmed Thursday that junior cornerback Terrence Talbott (center) has left the football program.

A university spokesman confirmed Thursday morning that reserve junior cornerback Terrence Talbott has left the football program.
The 5-foot-11, 178-pound Talbott -- from Huber Heights, Ohio -- played in all 13 games for Michigan in 2010, including 11 appearances at cornerback as a true freshman.
In 2011, however, his playing time decreased dramatically -- as he appeared in just two contests overall, both on special teams.
He appeared in line to receive more playing time after an impressive spring showing that saw him running with the starting defense.
But, now, that won't be the case.
“He’s like a lot of our guys out there," Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said in April. "Our program is about nobody ever really having a position locked. Raymon (Taylor) steps in there, shows some good things. Terrence goes in there and shows some good things. It doesn’t matter.
"I think at the very end of spring, we’ll evaluate and say, 'Who had the most good days and where does he fit now?' All of this is a process until we get to that opening game."
In 2011, Talbott fell behind Blake Countess and J.T. Floyd on the depth chart, and also sat behind reserves Courtney Avery, Raymon Taylor and Delonte Hollowell.

This is going to be long so I apologize now for the length! Thank you Tasha for sharing your thoughts on this situation. One thing I am sure of when it comes to these so called Michigan Men; is that you either hate them, or love them. They are so quick to label our sons as quitters, no character, selfish, afraid of competition, guilty, or the most asinine insult that I never understand is the "He is a RichRod recruit!" . These fans of Michigan may range from filthy; rich to well taken care of. But they all seem to be very quick to jump on the, "guilty as charged" band wagon. I should know...because my son had to suffer through even worse humiliation, at the hands of an over zealous states attorney. Charged with 2 domestic violence, and breaking an entrance back in April. Though their were many that stood for him and believed that justice would prevail. There were way too many that crushed his spirit, and accused him of doing something. The funny thing is like your son, my son love Michigan. He explained to me weeks before his incident; that he loved being a part of Michigan, and how proud he was to be called a Michigan Man. When I asked him why, just to make sure he wasn't getting brainwashed or something. He proudly said; "Dad Michigan was the fore runner for segregation. Did you know about Avery's great grand dad? Did you know about Gerald Ford and how he stood up for his black teammate? Do you know all the charitable work Michigan does in the community?" He went on to share more history and I smiled inside thinking; that my son understands, and he is going to be a true maize & blue Michigan Man. Even in his darkest hour when I said, "son, there is a coach out in Arizona that would love to have you if this doesn't work out." pt2 coming...

He proudly told me that Michigan was his team and he wasn't about to tuck tail and leave! So when people think our children haven't brought in to the Michigan way, they are sadly mistaken. For anyone to think that they get a free ride through school and take it lightly, they are even more confused. They will never know, or understand the blood, sweat, pain and suffering they go through. These young men share that brotherhood. They share a legacy of greatness, they are honored to walk the halls of the young men that have come before them. Or stand in that tunnel every Saturday afternoon. To touch that banner as they enter The Big House. Our sons' are Michigan Men! If and when they leave early for whatever reason, they will always be a Michigan Man! Thank you Tasha and all the parents that allow Michigan to add to our job we startedas parents. Transforming our boys into the men we knew they were going to become. Men of God, men of character, men of honor. leaders in their communities and men in their homes. And for those the bleed maize and blue MICHIGAN MEN!

Terrence was proud to be a Michigan Wolverine and many of his frends and family became fans because of him and his brother becoming wolverines. I can tell you this was a very hard decision for him. One of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make. He was and still remains loyal to the University and the football team. Due to personal (nothing criminal or because of the any of the things people are talking about) issues he chose to leave. I ask you all to please be considerate of his feelings and pray for him. He is a young man who is venturing into a new phase in his life. Some may not understand or agree wth him but this is a lesson and a journey he has to take. We have been reading many of the post and appreciate some of the comments and some well we just chalk it up to speculation and misinformation. He does want everyone to know that he will always bleed maize and blue and he is thankful for the opportunity he was given to become apart of such a prestigious program. I know all of this because I am his mother. Please keep Terrence and Terry in your prayers. Tasha

Whatever his reason for choosing to leave it is ultimately his decision. Instead of assuming why he left and making comments that may suggest he wasn't good enough or lacking loyalty how about we just wish the young man good luck in his future endeavors.

They come and they go Hobbs, they come and they go. Competition is good and sometimes instead of waiting patiently (Griese, Brady, etc. etc.) young men leave foregoing the opportunity to earn not just a football position but a Michigan diploma. Good article would be to track those who leave and where they end up and if they get a college diploma.

This is number 17 under HOke. That doesn't include Fitz or Clark. Hoke has coached one season and he has already run off a whole recruiting class. It's no coincidence that he poached a db from Penn State then this guy leaves. That is called over-sighning. It's time Delaney does something about Jabba.

And please list the 17 players Hoke as "run off" since he's arrived. You may be accurate, I don't' know because I don't keep track of such things. But apparently you do so indulge me, please. His brother terry was on the team in 2010. He had back injuries and was off the team all of 2011. he's not listed as leaving but i don't see him on the roster. don't know if he left.

If he played in 2010 and then got passed by guys in 2011, he has a right to go to another college and play. If he's not hurt by the decision and Michigan isn't hurt by the decision- it's not selfish. Right or wrong actions involve harm not being done or being done. Touissant and Clark commited wrong acts that harmed both the university, theri teammates and themselves.. This act is either neutral or positive for both Terry Talbott and Michigan.

The article mentions no reason on why he is leaving. Before accusing him of being selfish and leaving because he wasn't getting playing time all y'all should hold your fire till you hear from him. Maybe he has an injury, maybe he lost his passion for it, maybe he has other concerns beyond football....for shame AA.com community, for shame....

Loyalty with some only means getting more playing time. Competition was too tough for him. Injuries could have allowed him more playing time if need be. Maybe more hustle could have had him vie to a higher spot on the depth chart. Good luck to him in the future.

Yes it does open up a scholarship, but the coaching staff was planning on having some attrition of the current roster in order for them to actually have enough scholarships available. Since they have 24 guys already with verbal commits, I would imagine we only see one more. That will most likely be Treadwell.

Yup. I don't think we need another corner back with Douglas, Lewis, Conley, and Stribbling coming in next year and Richardson coming in this year. Kendall Fuller- despite his talent isn't a priority. Looking at the guys coming in and the five guys in front of him already, Talbot would never see the field. I wouldn't mind seeing a could more d lineman added. short and stout like Martin was.

If he can play division one ball somewhere else rather than sit the bench at Michigan that is a good thing. SEC program drive guys like Talbot off the team so they can open up a scholarship. I hope he has two great years starting somewhere else.
