Michigan 36, Purdue 14: Your comprehensive guide to our coverage
Melanie Maxwell I AnnArbor.com
Forget legacy uniforms. The Michigan football team had itself a real-life, throwback game.
Really. There was a lead tailback racking up big yards, a stingy defense and an easy win over a Big Ten also-ran on homecoming weekend.
Some of those old timers in the alumni band must have thought they were in a time warp back to their own college days while watching Michigan's 36-14 win over Purdue.
AnnArbor.com had the game covered, from pre-game tailgates to post-game celebrations. Here is a compilation of everything you'll find on our site:

No doubt. Nebraska and Ohio State in particular look like they're finding their legs as the season goes on. Iowa and Illinois are winnable if Michigan plays smart football ... Michigan is not good enough to overcome mistakes with talent. But avoid the mistakes and this team *can* beat a lot of teams in the Big 10.

I am impressed with the job this coaching staff has done with spread players.Which explains the identity crisis on offense and unlike rr we are 7-1 in the first year of the Hoke regime. And have a very bright future.

Not just you. It does not have an identity ... or, more precisely I think, it has multiple identities, none of which are dominant. One thing that did strike me about Saturday ... it seems Borge's effort to move the offense to less spread and more pro-set is starting to get some traction. It's a work in progress, to be sure. But my sense is the team took another step in that direction with Saturday's offensive show.

It was a good game, but hardly a solid thumping. Some of Michigan's sloppy tackling returned. The special teams coverage was only so-so. I'm sure Hoke will stay on his players and keep them from thinking they've "arrived" in any real sense. A fine win, that I'll admit. But stay focused on improving on the (many) cracks in this team's armor.

Referring to Purdue as a "Big Ten also-ran" - wow, the UMich arrogance is back. From the looks of the BCS top ten, the entire Big Ten is made up of also-ran's.
