Lloyd Carr, Jim Tressel visit Cleveland Browns practice
Chuck Crow | The Plain Dealer
Former coaches Lloyd Carr and Jim Tressel were back on the same football field Tuesday afternoon, both paying a visit to a Cleveland Browns practice session in Berea, Ohio.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported today that Carr -- whose Michigan teams lost five of six games against Tressel-coached Ohio State teams -- spent most of the practice visiting with Browns general manager Mike Holmgren. Tressel talked with former Green Bay GM Ron Wolf on the other end of the field.
"Photographers were dying to get Tressel and Carr in the same frame, but they kept about 25 yards apart the whole practice," the Plain Dealer's Tony Grossi wrote. "Afterwards, the former Big Ten rivals talked and walked off the field together with Holmgren."

If Tressel was around, they may want to inventory their silverware.

@Super_uck "I'll bet Tress is coaching in the NFL before Carr is." I'll bet you're exactly right! Carr's legacy is intact. No need for rebuilding. Oh . . . how the mighty have fallen. Big Blue is on the rise while Bucky scrounges for nuts.

Say what you want about Tressel but he could have run up 100 points against your beloved Blue last November because the Wolverines QUIT before the end of the first quarter. Look for both the Spartans and Bucks to humiliate you again this fall.

Dear Terry Star, I guess Dixboro Elementary, Tappan Jr High, and Huron High were all my imagination. As was Drakes Sandwich Shop, Stein and Goetz, Quality Bakery, Bimbo's, Second Chance, and Discount Records are all delusions. Getting Cazzie Rusell's autograph at Pat's Par 3? Must have dreamed it. The MC5 at West Park? Another dream. I have moved around the country and have been to Columbus twice. Not impressed. OSU fans are ten times more annoying than the Go Blue crowd. UM has had its moments. There was rampant drug use by the players back in the 70's and 80's, but of course it was never made public. Heck, I worked with an old timer at Hoover's who said back in the 40's, Tom Harmon's teammates should up every Friday to collect pay checks and never worked one minute in the plant. You'll hear from me as the season progresses. IF UM has a winning season, more power to you. If not, I will relish in your whining.

Calm down guys. jim Tressel lives in Berea, (Or did), and probably was looking for a little R'n'R, so he booped over to catch the Browns work out. My bet is that neither guy knew ahead of time that the other guy was going to be there. After a brief (politcally correct chat), they probably separated, and watched the practice from different spots. End of story..Hey, both these guys are retired. If they ever do work again it'll be as a color commentator some where...but htey won;t hang on like Earl Bruce, ughhhh.

"Say what you want about Tressel but he could have run up 100 points against your beloved Blue"....really ? He used ineligible, professional players and he cheated, lied and covered up in ways we may never hear about - all for winning. Little brothers up north run is over, and it will be years before little sister down south will be able to even challenge M. Nice try about the raised and born in Ann Arbor - we've heard that before from the little sisters down south - it didn't work then and won't now !

I was born and raised in Ann Arbor. I am not an OSU, MSU, or ND fan. I used to be a UM fan but grew tired of their fans' constant whining and belly aching, even in the so called best of times. Lyoyd Carr was run out of town on a rail because he was "over the hill" and "could not win the big one" and "the game has passed him by". I will admit to enjoying their floundering the last three years, and face it THEY HAVE ACCOMPLISHED ANYTHING YET this season. Relishing in Tressel's downfall m proves you to be the ninnies you are. Oh yeah, Brady Hoke, was he not third chose for head coach?

This comment alone speaks volumes on how much you are all going to miss your beloved (disgraced) coach. I know osu fans have selective memory----the past only goes back to about 2001, right? Good times! But how about you stop living in the past and embrace your future.......we certainly are!

League Bus, UM did not even win its own spring game. What have they accomplished thus far? A good 2012 recruiting class will not translate into wins this fall. No quarterback, worst defense in major Division 1, you name it. They would be hard pressed to win the MAC this year.

Really. I'll bet any future interviewer would be hard pressed to get past how he lied to his bosses for months at a time. He won in college because he cheated. That wont work in the NFL. I hope he invested wisely but I'm sure his 'tell all' book is like money in the bank. (To be written after the time limit on violations has expired.) You hear that ticking sound sb? That's the clock on how long tsopio has until the NCAA takes away future bowl games and scholarships. tick, tick, tick,....

I guess I am still quite amazed at the buckeye fans support of tressel, he cheated, lied, covered up and hurt the university for years maybe decades. They seem to want to look the other way, just like the tressel wanted.

Thank heaven or the stars. If we prayed in school we all woulkd have the tolerance taught in the Christan churches? Must be too many 'Other' religions have invaded our Christan based country. That's what happens when you have drop outs from Churches people forget their lessons in tolerance & forgiveness. Football is a game. It's enjoyable game. It should be played ethically. It should be coached ethicalky; but plkease all those coaches out there who strictly followed all the rules please raise your hand. Don't discount the times those with less knowledge accused you either. This was better then science fiction.

If people want to take this so seriously, I guess I'll chime in. OSU has pommeled Michigan for a decade. Now we know we can blame it all on "lying and cheating." How convenient.

osu won by using ineligible professional players along with 'lying and cheating', Carr 7-0 and last coach 3-0 against the cheats down south.

I agree with 81 wolverine - there is no way Carr knew in advance the devil would be there. On the other hand though, could Carr be gloating a bit for being 7-0 against the lying cheating coach ? I however, don't believe Carr would want his picture taken with dirtbag, after all Carr represented honesty and integrity during his coaching career. Honestly folks, if you spent your entire employment career following all the rules and making sacrifices and the other person gets ahead by lying, cheating and covering up - would you associate with them ?

Imaginations can go wild over such incidents. Could both Carr and Tressel be job hunting? That is, the job might not involve coaching or be something like "team public relations" or "game announcer." The Browns, could be looking for anyone who could help them. ;-)

Tressel and Carr faced each other seven times -- 2001 through 2007. Carr won once ... in 2003. That makes Carr's record against Tressel 1-6 ... or, conversely, Tressel's record against Carr was 6-1.

@genetracy, mine (and many other peoples') issues with how Carr acted during the RR tenure, as well as the lack of solid recruiting in his final years, are far from having him "run out of town." He has been, and always will be, reveared as an honest and upstanding coach/person. A far cry from Tressell.
