Kaleb Ringer is third member of 2012 Michigan football recruiting class

By AnnArbor.com Staff

The Dayton Daily News has reported that Northmont High School linebacker Kaleb Ringer has verbally committed to play at Michigan.

Ringer is scheduled to make an official announcement on Friday, which is also his birthday.

Ringer is a 6-foot, 219-pound linebacker who also had scholarship offers from Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Louisville among others, according to Rivals.com.

Ringer joins offensive linemen Ben Braden of Rockford and Caleb Stacey of Cincinnati in Michigan's 2012 class.

Interesting. I wonder if the reporter from Dayton would have gone against Ringer's wishes if he were committing to TSIO?

Kaleb is a great pick up. He has a high motor, is very athletic and intelligent. He plays downhill in a physical style but has the ability to drop back in coverage. He is a Ray Lewis type and will get excellent coaching at Michigan. Wise choice for Kaleb. TiM Go Blue.

"Ringer" on the back of a Michigan uniform. Cringe. I would rather see that famous name on the back of a Spartan jersey again.

Saline, The Spartan jersey's are to narrow at the shoulders the name Ringer won't fit.

ohiowolverine......Well said! I'm an Ohioan from Lorain, that escaped and made it to UM in 1965. 46 years, so I'm not too far behind you. (Turned down a scholarship to osu, in the process.) And yes, there is very little class in C-bus these days. Can Dayton be far behind? (BTW...Hoke was from Dayton, Bo was from Barberton.....and they also made it to the Wolverine state. With Tressel, fightling off scandels, lies to the NCAA, and 'recruiting parties' with money, and free women, it will be VERY interesting, to see what the NCAA and the Big Ten have to say about osu going forward....we'll learn whether either of those institutions have any 'class' as well.

Lorain, what a shame, how far the mighty have fallen. I want to see ohio state at the top of their game when Mich. hopefully rebuilds who wants to see a repeat of the last several years with a role reversal between Mich. and ohio state. I want to see matchups where they are both ranked high in the polls.

This was a sinking boat three months ago. Now it's been patched and is under command of a much better captain. But you go on telling us that you need 2 years of positive results before you join this crew. I like what I see and I like the plan. As is custom when boarding a naval ship, I salute the National Colors, the Officer of the Deck, and ask, "Captain Hoke, permission to come aboard the USS Wolverine." "Granted, now get this ship ready to sail the Big Ten." TiM Go Blue!

Great get for coach Hoke, welcome Mr.Ringer.. a 4 star LB from ohio coming to Blue,I have a feeling this is not the last 4 or 5 star recruit coming out of ohio, Ringer saw the writing on the wall of tressel's pawn & loan shop otherwise known as da O-LIE-O state U.... There a changing of the Guard at Michigan Football and its just a matter of time before Hoke,Mattson & Borges get their recruits and return Michigan Dominance as we all remember them. There are more to come, and its great to be a Wolverine Fan again. My Thanks go out to Dave Brandon for seeing the forest thru the tree's,the whole picture! and having the perseverance to hold true to hiring Michigan Men to lead Michigan football to the land of Crystal... TiM Hail Yes This Michigan !! GO BLUE...

PLB Out of respect for those, like you who served their country, don't you think you could resist calling them "boys and girls"? You state you're "old" but respect knows no age requirement and it's demeaning. I would take it as a personal favor if you would come up with another term to address those younger than you. Thank you. TiM Go Blue!

The way some of you boys and girls put down Mich. over the last several years I'm surprised anyone would want to go to ohio state or Michigan for years to come especially with a cheater and an unproven coach except in the little leagues.

That actually is a very good point...How many players who would otherwise have gone to Ohio State, will now consider other schools far more seriously because of the potential punishment OSU is facing because of Tressel? If I were a player deciding on where to go to college, even if Ohio State would normally be my top pick, would I really want to be on their football team after NCAA makes its ruling? It's something I would have to seriously think about before committing to them. I have a feeling that at least until the NCAA's punishment against Ohio State is handed down, that other schools will be using it as a major recruiting tool to convince Ohio players to play out of state. They will totally play off of the uncertainty, they would be fools not to.

Welcome to Michigan Mr. Ringer! Great name for a linebacker. It's obvious with last year's class and this year, Michigan is emphasizing improving the talent at linebacker. This is good as poor recruiting in the past and attrition have made this a very weak position on the team. To have a good D, you MUST have good linebackers. And I'll bet that Hoke and Mattison will build this group back to where it should be.

Kaleb will be good if we can convert him to a receiver/wingback. The only good part of ohio is Cedar Point. Since we don't got Bob-Lo no more, we should tow Cedar Point to where Bob-Lo used to be, then Obama would be justified in kicking ohio out of the union and just using it for a waste dump. Terry, I'm currently barbecuing at the spring game tailgate. Kicking field goals between the pine trees on the 3rd hole. Come on down. Wolverines only.

Hey Dusty maybe Hoke shouldn't recruit anybody from Ohio eh? Look it's a sign of improvement that Michigan is now getting Kids other Big Ten teams wanted verses out recruiting Mid American teams. I'm waiting to see the recruit OSU really wanted to get commit to Michigan.

Kaleb specifically asked the Dayton Daily News "journalist" (Marc Pendleton) who wrote that article to NOT publish his decision until after his announcement on Friday. Pendleton ignored the request. What a classless move. At least he is getting reamed for ruining Kaleb's moment in the comment section of that article.
