Four-star cornerback Terry Richardson says he'll play football for Michigan
Terry Richardson, a 5-foot-9-inch cornerback at Detroit Cass Tech, says he'll sign with the Michigan football team as part of its 2012 recruiting class, according to several reports.
Richardson confirmed the reports on his Twitter account. He had listed Alabama, USC and LSU as his other finalists from dozens of scholarship offers.
Richardson is listed as a four-star player by Rivals.com and is the second Cass Tech player to offer a verbal commitment to Michigan.
Four-star linebacker Royce Jenkins-Stone commited earlier this year.
Former Michigan running back Thomas Wilcher coaches Cass Tech.
Richardson is also close friends with another four-star linebacker commit, James Ross from Orchard Lake St. Mary's.
Richardson -- rated the 10th-best cornerback prospect in the nation by Scout.com -- is the 12th member of Michigan's 2012 recruiting class, the eighth that is projected to play on the defensive side of the ball and the seventh from the state of Michigan. He is the first defensive back in the class.

Isn't he a little small for Big-10?

Men of Michigan ... one point is just a point; two points forms a line ... three points a trend. There is definitely a trend here. And it is ... good. There is mojo in the water. Hoke and his team are slamming a stake in the ground. "This is Michigan!" Yes indeed. We are in good hands.

I am so proud of Terry. He didn't leave Michigan fans disappointed. His addition will do much to strengthen the entire team. If Coach Hoke continues to see fine young men like Mr. Richardson commit to the Wolverine football program, OSU will start to wilt and crumble, and perhaps Spartyville will also begin to collapse. It appears that happy days are here again in Ann Arbor, and also throughout the state of Michigan. Bravo!

What's the deal, here? I'm used to Michigan competing for recruits with Florida Atlantic and UCF. Now we're competing with USC and Alabama for the same recruits?

By the way, anyone else remember back in January when the doom and gloomers were whining about how firing Rich Rod would have a negative effect on recruiting, and that the changing of the guard would set Michigan back? Someone forgot to tell Brady Hoke.

I think the doom & gloom was applying more towards the 2011 recruiting class than future ones. For instances, Michigan lost the commitment of five star running back Dee Hart and five star linebacker Kris Frost, who said he was 99.9 percent going to U-M until RR got fired, then he switched to Auburn. Would have been two huge pick ups, but instead turned into two big losses.

Another quality football player for Michigan. He not only makes me happy because he brings a football mentality and skill set, he also should make the members of the MCC happy because he is fast. Everybody's happy. How nice is that? tater, I'm not sure what RCMB is or who is "biased". Could you clear that up, please?

Its nice to see Michigan signing players with offers from USC, Alabama, and LSU. Impressed! I still think we are going to struggle over the next couple years to transition into a power team, but we are on the right track. A lot of big guys are coming down the pike, and a renewed energy and focus on beating our rivals!

I don't know what's better: this commitment or the RCMB meltdown over the last few commitments. They have decided that the 20th-best player in Ohio is as good as the best player in Michigan, that "scum is using firesale tactics" to get commitments, and that one shouldn't listen to "scummie propaganda" in the media. It's funny how spoiled they got when the state MSM were kissing Saint Dantonio's ring; they now think objective coverage is "biased." I can't wait to see how "biased" they think the "propaganda" is in October.

Welcome aboard Mr. Richardson! Most people have him as the 2nd or 3rd highest rated prospect in the state this next season. Although he's a little small, experts say he more than makes up for it with his moxie, ball skills, and aptitude for the game. It's obvious, U-M owns the state in recruiting this year, getting all the top players. Sorry Sparty.
