Former Michigan football recruit Demar Dorsey now at Grand Rapids Community College
Matt Gade | The Grand Rapids Press
Demar Dorsey, a onetime Michigan football recruit who was eventually turned away by the program, is close to starting his college career with Grand Rapids Community College.
Dorsey, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback and the cousin of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson, was a highly rated national recruit in 2010. He was in and out of the the picture for several big-name college programs, but two arrests in 2007 and a robbery charge in 2008 that was eventually dropped followed him as did questions about his academic record.
His plan, according to the Grand Rapids Press, is to succeed academically and on the field at Grand Rapids Community College, then transfer to a top-tier program. From the Press:
Ask him where he sees himself in two years, and he mentions doing something only former Michigan cornerback Charles Woodson has done. "Two years, I see myself at a great D-I, winning the Heisman, winning defensive player of the year," Dorsey said in a calm, serious manner. Woodson was the only defensive player in NCAA history to win a Heisman, and Dorsey knows that. "Only Woodson, and I’m the next," Dorsey said. "That’s my word that I’m standing to live by."

When he adds about 15-20 pounds to his 6'1'' frame, he will be an awesome athlete for a D-1 school

It is his humility that is his greatest strength.

If DD stays on the straight and narrow and improves his academics at GRCC over the next year, then then I am 100% for Michigan recruiting him. I'd hate to see Michigan turn their back on a talented individual that a) really wants to be at Michigan; b) cleaned up his life; and c) worked hard in the classroom to improve his academics.

DD must be using every computer at GRCC to vote this up. Time will tell and if he can stay trouble free will see where he plays ball next.

Don't quite know what to make of this young man. On one hand he seems to want to play the game, on the other hand all indications point to an iffy person meaning is he still dangerous or has he learned any of lifes lessons. Would you trust this young man say playing the game along side your kid or as your kids roomate? There comes a time when making judgement calls you have to use your instinctive judgement and I think Mich. used their's wisely.
